Each module contains tools that allow for the monitoring of the natural history of each patient’s disease over many years, with or without treatment. This data can be retrieved as snapshots, or as a graphical representation of the progression of clinically relevant data over time, such as changes in visual acuity and treatment effects. Graphs include mouse-over functionality that reveal additional details such as changes in visual acuity at each visit, as well as enlargements of these graphs that display information for each eye separately and allows for changing of the time scale.
The results can contribute to a clinician’s understanding of the results of treatments administered to individual patients, and also allows for self-auditing performance benchmarking and quality assurance. It can act as an effective patient education tool by demonstrating their treatment progress, facilitating for the involvement of the patient in discussing their perceived treatment effect and contributing to management decisions.
It also provides a referral function for clinicians.
